Create a multimedia video illustrating the underlying genetic technologies and revolutionary genetic procedure developed by Genable Solutions (Spark Therapeutics Ireland Ltd).

WORKFLOW

We worked directly with Siobhan Gaynor at Spark Therapeutics Ireland to produce a script and storyboard balancing basic information for a lay audience with detailed information for expert viewers. Honing the message down to its most fundamental points — and resisting the urge to infuse the video with dense visuals and language — was the key to the project.

We took a multimedia approach using video and 3D animation to quickly communicate the location and scale of the relevant anatomy, demonstrate its constituent parts and illustrate the proposed treatment.

Once we began to work at a molecular level, we were able to move away from a photo-real treatment and focus on visual communication. Hand sketching and rendered still images were a key part of the workflow at this stage. Our team’s design and applied arts backgrounds was crucial in allowing us to collaborate effectively with the client, sketching their descriptions and making design suggestions in real time.

Deliverable

We produced a series of images and animations which were used to attain funding and eventually secure a successful acquisition of the company and its IP by Spark Therapeutics Ireland.
